The world is littered with hundreds of stunning scenic landscapes. Some are well known and documented while some are remote and only savored by locals. Here is a list of some of the most picturesque scenery in the world.
1. Northern Lights. While they are mostly skyward northern lights illuminate the horizon with bright varied colors spots. They are among the most spectacular sites in the world is full of beautiful images in dark nights. This is usually visible for 7 months in a year between September and March. Machu Picchu is perched thousands of feet above the river Urubamba Valley in Peru, a region that is about 60 miles northwest of Cuzco.
3. Grand Canyon, USA. This landscape is one of the most recognizable in the US and worldwide. At its deepest, the Grand Canyon is more than a mile deep. It is considered one of the seven natural wonders of the world. The canyon is believed to have been formed by the gradual erosion of the river by the Colorado River. It is 446 kilometers long and up to 29 kilometers wide.
4. Tsingy of Bemaraha, Madagascar. Composed primarily of towering limestone needles and thin tree leaves national park has been classified as UNESCO World Heritage. It is located in the Melaky region of the archipelago in the Indian Ocean to Madagascar. The park is about 10 square kilometers of virgin forests, beautiful gorges and canyons raggedy. The Tsingy of Bemaraha Park offers scenic monoliths and unique animal species.
5. Lake Hillier, Australia. This one of a type of lake is located in Middle Island in Wanted archipelago, off the coast of Western Australia. Pink salt lake has a white beach contrasts beautifully with the dense forests green basil around to create a surreal image. There is no consensus as to the cause of the pink pigmentation. A scientific section attribute to the sea salt and reaction deposit nahcolite, while others relate to the low nutrient levels and different types of bacteria and algae.
6. "Door to Hell", Turkmenistan. The Darvaza gas crater is located in the Karakum Desert of Turkmenistan Central about 170 kilometers from the capital Ashgabat. The crater was formed in 1971 when Soviet oil engineers were drilling for oil in the desert. The cavernous gas reservoir below collapsed exposing methane within. The collapse extended across a wide field of sedimentary rocks. The largest is about 230 by 65 feet. The scientific lit the fire to clear the methane. Unfortunately, it was burned during the last 45 years.
7. Tianzi Mountains, China. The rocky forest is located in the Wulingyuan Scenic area of the province of Huna. Measuring approximately 67 square kilometers and the highest peak is 1262 meters above sea level. It is one of four places in the area, the others being Zhangjiajie Park Reserve and Suoxiyu Yangjiajie Scenic Area. The region takes its name from Dakun Xiang (1127 -1279) who was named Tianzi (Son of Heaven). The area is best explored in April, May, September and October in a cable car 6 minutes which is 2.084 meters long.
